Terms of Service

1. Agreement

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and Inverix IP (Pty) Ltd ("Inverix IP", "we", "us"). If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. The service

Little Steps Africa provides digital tools to help parents and caregivers track infant health, growth, vaccinations, and daily care. Features may include reminders, exports, caregiver sharing, and offline-capable logging.

Not medical advice: the app is an organisational and educational tool only. It does not diagnose, treat, or replace care from a qualified healthcare professional. Always follow your clinic, paediatrician, or national immunisation schedule.

3. Eligibility and accounts

• You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into a contract.
• You represent that you are a parent, guardian, or authorised caregiver for any child profile you create.
• You are responsible for safeguarding your login credentials and activity on your account.
• You must provide accurate account information and keep it up to date.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the service for unlawful, harmful, or fraudulent purposes.
• Upload malware, spam, or content that infringes others' rights.
• Attempt to access another user's data without authorisation.
• Reverse engineer, scrape, or overload our systems except as permitted by law.
• Misrepresent your identity or relationship to a child whose data you log.

Caregiver sharing must comply with our Community Guidelines.

5. Your content

You retain ownership of content you submit (logs, photos, notes). You grant Inverix IP a limited licence to host, process, and display that content solely to provide the service to you and invited caregivers.

You are responsible for the accuracy of health information you enter and for how you share exports or clinic reports with third parties.

6. Privacy

Our collection and use of personal information is described in the Privacy Policy and POPIA notice. By using the app, you also accept those documents.

7. Little Steps+ and fees

Essential care logging (feeds, sleep, diapers, growth measurements, and health/safety tracking) is free. New accounts receive a 14-day trial of Little Steps+ at no charge.

After the trial, advanced features (insights, village sharing, clinic PDF, Baby Passport, health guidance, data export, unlimited history, and related tools) require a one-time in-app purchase of Little Steps+ shown in the app before purchase — currently marketed at R99.99 once-off in South Africa (App Store and Google Play show localised pricing).

Little Steps+ is not a recurring subscription. Purchases are processed by Apple or Google; we do not offer web checkout on this site. Refund and billing disputes are handled according to the applicable app store policies.

[Legal review required] Legacy monthly or annual subscribers, if any, may retain prior terms until their existing billing period ends.

8. Availability and changes

We strive for reliable service but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features with reasonable notice where practicable.

9. Termination

You may stop using the app at any time and schedule account deletion in Settings (30-day grace period applies). We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or pose a security risk.

10. Disclaimer of warranties

The service is provided "as is" and "as available" to the fullest extent permitted by law. We disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Inverix IP is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for health outcomes arising from reliance on the app instead of professional medical care. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim (or ZAR 100 if you used the free tier).

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be excluded under South African law.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of South African courts, without prejudice to your statutory consumer rights.

13. App Store Specific Terms

If you download the App from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, you acknowledge that these Terms are between you and Inverix IP only, not with Apple Inc. or Google LLC. Inverix IP, not Apple or Google, is solely responsible for the App and its content. Apple and Google have no obligation whatsoever to furnish any maintenance and support services with respect to the App. Apple and Google, and their subsidiaries, are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms, and upon your acceptance of these Terms, they will have the right to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary thereof.
